Anti-Oppressive Approach

As a white, CIS, able bodied, self diagnosed autistic person I am committed to providing anti-oppressive, neurodivergent-affirmative and culturally aware counselling.

I am dedicated to learning and developing an anti-oppressive approach in my practice. This involves dismantling white supremacy, patriarchy and anti-colonial frameworks.

As a therapist it is important to be able to support clients that are impacted by white supremacy, ableism, patriarchy, transphobia, homophobia, Islamophobia, capitalism and racism.

I am committed to advocating for social justice and systemic change within the mental health sector. Some of the ways I do this is through my own continual professional development, and using my platforms to continually raise awareness.

Space and Time Counselling also supports charities and organisations that are out there doing incredible work such as; Black Minds Matter UK, The Palestinian Mental Health Fund, and the Mentoring Project set up by The Black, African and Asian Therapy Network. This project helps nurture Black and Asian psychological therapists through their training so they can contribute to Mental Health services in the UK.

Space and Time Counselling strives to offer an inclusive, liberation focused and culturally responsive practice.

Whilst I have learnt so much through attending courses I am aware that white colonial culture places greater value on the written word over intuition, ancestral knowledge and oral traditions. I try to honour this through listening to people's stories and truth and noticing my own conditioning around this.

I am an avid reader and love to watch films and documentaries. You can find my booklist via my highlights on my instagram page.

If you're seeking a therapist committed to these values, then please don't hesitate to get in touch.
